of South Brooklyn. The day begins with
a homemade Russian lunch in Brighton Beach, the journey's starting point. You will then venture westward down the
boardwalk with a simultaneous translation of and commentary on the local
scene. When you have traveled half way,
you will pass the Cyclone and the Himalaya and descend into Dante's Inferno,
Astropark's long surviving spook-house.
Next you will climb the stairs to the purgatorial Coney Island Side
Show, where Insectavora and the Inflatable Boy will lead us to contemplate
life's strangeness with their Dantescan acts of endurance. The day concludes with an ascension to the
spheres on the Wonder Wheel and an unfortunate but obligatory return to earth and home. At the end of the day, the participating students will
receive one all-beef Nathan's Famous hotdog in natural casing and an English
translation of the Inferno with the Italian text en face. Itinerary depends on schedule, weather,
