Re: MS 54 Computer update

By now every instructional room should have received at least one upgraded iMac connected to the new printers. If you are experiencing any problems, leave a note in the PTA box or email keitheisenstark@yahoo.com.

MS54.org - Visit the NEW MS 54 website at http://ms54.org. This website has a lot of great features that everyone can use. It is now the homepage for all the machines in the school.

Check it out to find current information, upcoming events, etc.

Teachers can build their own section. (apply for a login on the site)

From there you can reach the in-school web site or just type http://10.204.178.11/ in a browser to reach it, from any machine in the school, on the instructional network.

The "Server" – In addition to holding all documents created when you log in, the server that manages all the iMacs also acts as an in-school web server.

Anyone with a login can create their own pages simply by putting their web documents/pictures in the folder called “sites.” Instructions are available on the site.

We have also installed a Wiki, which is the product that drives the Wikipedia.com site. We can now build a repository of information about BTW or post work produced by students or any other items such as frequently used forms or templates, etc. This can only be accessed and added to from any PC or iMac, in the school.

Give it a try or if you want some help let us know.

Protect you computer equipment– please never place any computer, printer or add-on equipment on the school heaters. Also never put a cover over the computer.

"Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing" – A copy of this program is being installed so that it will be available throughout the school. We will notify you when it is available and how to use it.
