High School Application NewsOn Jan 7, 2009, Barbara Von Zerneck sent home the following notice regarding SHSAT results. Actual backpacked letter as PDF Dear Parents & Students: I hope you had a good vacation and wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful new year. As you know, students who took the Specialized High School Entrance Examination and receive acceptance to one of those schools, as well as students who auditioned for and receive acceptance to La Guardia, will be informed of these acceptances some time around February 5th. At that time, these students will also be informed of the non-specialized high school to which they were matched. Students who took the test and/or auditioned for LaGuardia but who are not accepted to any of these specialized high schools will receive a letter indicating non-acceptance, but will not be informed of their match until some time in late March. In order to best serve the needs of all students, and show concern for the stress they experience with being accepted to their school of choice, we have decided that it is best if these results are reported to the students and parents by mail. In order to make this process more efficient, I am asking that each student who took the test for the Specialized High Schools and/or auditioned for LaGuardia bring in a #10 SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE (preferably self-seal) and give it to her/his official teacher. You do not need to affix a stamp. However, please make sure that the address is accurate and includes apartment number and correct zip code. As soon as I receive the results, I will mail them to your home. It is our hope that this procedure will help to dignify this process, and protect our children from the stress associated with finding out the results during school hours. |
